Privacy Policy
Chinese Step by Step is operated by Hongzhi Chen in Australia. The app is designed to keep learning information on your device. You do not need to create an account or sign in.
Information kept on your device
The app stores lesson progress, handwriting records, settings, personal Phrasebook entries and the local state used to recognise access to the Foundation 500 purchase. This information supports learning, review, personalisation, backup and purchase access. The app operator does not receive it from the app.
No developer collection or tracking
The app does not send personal information, learning information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers or location data to the app operator. This release has no developer-operated account, cloud sync, advertising, tracking, analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDK.
Backup export and import
You may export a human-readable JSON backup through Apple’s system file interface and choose where it is saved. A backup can include progress, handwriting records, settings and personal Phrasebook entries. The app validates a selected import and shows a summary before asking you to confirm replacement of local learning data. The app operator does not receive exported or imported files. Apple or another file provider may process files under its own privacy terms.
In-App Purchase
The optional Foundation 500 purchase is processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. The app operator does not receive payment-card credentials through the app. The app reads verified App Store entitlement information to unlock purchased course content; this release does not send transaction information to a developer server.
Sharing, retention and deletion
The app operator does not sell, rent or share app data with advertisers or data brokers. Local information remains on your device until you replace it through an import, use an available recovery control, or remove the app and its local data. Exported backups remain in the location you chose until you delete them there. Because there is no app account or developer database, there is no server-side account record to delete.
Children
Chinese Step by Step is a general-audience language-learning app and is not submitted to Apple’s Kids Category. It does not require an account, collect personal information through a developer service, or include advertising or tracking. Parents and guardians should supervise a child’s use of the device, exported backups and App Store purchases.
Changes and contact
If the app’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated before the change is released. For privacy questions, email hongzc01@gmail.com.
Help
Support
Email hongzc01@gmail.com and include the app version and build, your device and system version, a short description, and screenshots or a screen recording where useful. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or Apple Account credentials.
Do I need an account?
No. Chinese Step by Step does not require an app account or sign-in.
How do I restore Foundation 500?
Open Settings in the app and choose Restore purchases. Purchases and restoration require access to Apple’s App Store services and are handled by Apple through StoreKit.
Where is my learning data stored?
Progress, handwriting and personal Phrasebook entries stay on your device. The JSON backup controls let you export or import local learning data through Apple’s system file interface.
How do I remove local learning data?
Use available local-data controls or remove the app from your device. Export a JSON backup first if you want to retain your learning data. Delete exported backups in the file service where you saved them.
Terms
Important information
The app provides language-learning content for general educational use. Course availability may depend on the installed version and a verified Foundation 500 entitlement. App Store purchases, refunds and restoration are governed by Apple’s terms. Do not rely on emergency phrases in place of local emergency services or qualified professional assistance.
Use of the app is also subject to Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement.
